Made of Dust

Made of Dust

A Poem by Lola Nation

Cut in half

centered

to the core

allowing you

an eagle’s view

I trust too much

in what you give me

false and floating cage

just one less than you

and cracked wise

variety

the garden’s vengeance

imprecating confessions

in prayers corresponding

to the fears of realization

that nothing exists, higher or lower

than we are now

I guess we must have been on the same frequency cuz dust, gardens, bones have been swimming in me too as of late. I like the confessional nature of this poem - it always strikes me how open you are with such things - gritty, as another reviewer remarked. I prob would have preferred that you kept up the rhymes somewhat, but that's neither here nor there. The last two lines maybe on their own? low/now nice internal/eye rhymes.

now that's a point of pain if I ever felt one~ straight through the gauze into the wound of being human~ gritty beauty~
