![]() In BetweenA Poem by Lola Nation![]() those moments we cannot capture...![]() We were reading words to one another, Playing music back and forth, dedications too intense for a jukebox dime, We were telling stories, breathing in the past and exhaling at long last, We lingered quietly in the pause between sentence and song, We laughed through the enamel, gritting our teeth at dawn, wishing for one more night Long after I was gone, I would come back to walk down your street, if only to take myself back into that state, beyond the manicured lawns dividing apartment complexes Wishing once again, you would let me back in, just for that moment when every lyric, every poetic stanza defined can be described only by that fleeting moment from moonlight cab ride exits, tip-toeing upstairs to lucky number Five unlocking doors, when shoes fall to the side of the hall, and Persian cushions serve as a floor level seat Hours pass within minutes and a lifetime can drift in seconds… © 2010 Lola NationReviews
