Races

Races

A Poem by Lola Nation
"

references to two great horses - one of which is my best friend - 1) smarty jones 2) dan patch

"

I was love sick
spooning you
tying myself up
living off of
injections too good
to be true
cowgirl
junkie
sick girl
you’re the monkey I want so bad

on my back

take it
any which way
you could push it
but you didn’t

regret, how could I? you call

I fall
down the stairs

no one even looks

I wait
prepared
to say anything
something
so you’ll notice
maybe even
remember
my season

it’s alright
you’re a race horse
Ken
tuck
eeeeeeeeeeeee
derby

and I can’t catch up

smart if it was

wouldn’t jones
and patch it may be

don’t have Dan

f**k me…

when you arrive at the sense of your own worth, you wont wait on anyone...or even bother...
