Witches

Witches

A Poem by Lola Nation

Rumor had it and truth didn’t know.

Lies persisted but no one would listen,

Go figure, eight, she skates

thin ice and he fishes in her hole

Blue lips, numb hands

drags it to the surface

she mutters, “it’s so cold”

he Raleigh’s his jacket

and she melts.

He always knew.

Clever lines in here with a sense of wonder and surprise, yet, always aware. Fisherman and a mermaid -- reminds me of the legend of Urashima and the Tortoise. Interesting piece, Lola!

P.S. I'm well. Stupid, but well.
