Amusement Park

Amusement Park

A Poem by Lola Nation
"

I once had a boyfriend who would disappear frequently

"

You’re like a circus -
Full of color, laughter
Amazing acts
that leave one breathless after
You’re like a carnival -
Full of excitement,
prizes of sweetheart romance
Daring and tempting
with your games of chance
You’re like a magician -
Your performance always captivating,
but when your secrets are told -
the disappointment of being lied to
ruins the tradition
The circus always runs away,
The carnival packs up and leaves,
A magician always disappears –
It’s no wonder there’s no amusement,
when you’re not here
