This Wounded Heart

This Wounded Heart

A Poem by Marguerite Lynn Morin
"

I wrote this following the death of my husband.

"

Every beat of my heart
forces life through this gaping wound
where once you lived and loved
and had your being.
Unhealing, it festers until I am overcome
with the agony of missing you.
Suspended in time, I wait for recure
that does not come.
Until the moment when reviviscence,
"in the twinkling of an eye",
returns you as bidden...
it bleeds still.
