Thoughts of You

Thoughts of You

A Poem by Marguerite Lynn Morin
"

I wrote this following the death of my husband.

"

My love it seems forever that I've heard you call my name,
And since the day you left me life has never been the same.
When evening comes and loneliness again creeps o'er my sill,
It is then that you return to me, my memories to fill.

Thoughts that ever haunt my steps, and bittersweet they be;
Reminders of a love and life that slipped away from me.
Tokens that you gave me on the day we pledged our troth
Bespeak the warmth of former bliss as if to try and soothe.

O, return to me, beloved, if in my dreams at night
We possess again that oneness--the enravished lovers' plight.
Sultry breezes softly croon their twilight serenade
'Till morning dawns clandestine and steals you away.

Father I would be released from 'neath this crushing weight.
Grant me strength to see me through 'till I stand before Your gate
Where once again I'll see the face of one I've loved so long
And with him ever sing refrains of Heaven's celestial song.
