Inheritance

Inheritance

A Poem by LMacbeth
"

Loss of a loved one does not mean the end, only the beginning. Carry on their wisdom to the next generation and they will live forever.

"

In the end,

Our lives are reduced to photographs and memories

of our loved ones and friends.

Fragments of precious time

scattered to the corners of our minds.

Particles of dust in gentle winds,

Settling forever on our cortex floor.

Nothing more.

I really loved this piece, it provided a new way of looking at the death of a loved one - that they still exist in our memories. That's very reassuring and a hopeful thought after a tragic event. ^_^ I really enjoyed the last three lines in particular, they were very pretty. :)

It's true that photographs and memories are all that remain of us, since writings and drawn pictures are part of us but don't make people remember exactly how we were, not 100% at least, and both things you mentioned have this thing. Very well-expressed thoughs, it was short and understandable.

a well thought out piece of writing. As long as somebody remembers us we never die. Nicely presented in poetic prose
