So I can carry it with me.A Poem by LMWolfA description of the goodbye between Elvis Presley and his future wife Priscella in Germany after his Army term.
The car halted within the crowd of fans
The soprano voices screaming. the ravid girls. All come to see one God-like man As he kisses goodbye to the girl with the dark curls. So I can carry it with me. She clings to his jacket, remembering the cloth And tracing the feeling of him to her mind But she knew, his heart that was so warm for her would begin to froth. But she had fallen in love with him. How could she be so blind? So I can carry it with me. He kissed her goodbye once more Whispering words she hoped were true Before he opened the car door And she watched him, the only love she had ever knew. So I can carry it with me. She left the car As he walked through the parted crowd Heading to the plane that would take him so far And instantly she was swallowed up with the screaming voices so loud. So I can carry it with me. He took up the stairway to the private plane Like all the other teenage girls begging for his attention And like all the others begun to scream and cry his name While releasing those tears of tension. So I can carry it with me. He stood at the head of the stairs Shadowed blue eyes searching all around Looking all over as his aching heart begins to tear Yet she is no where to be found. So I can carry it with me. She remembers what he said As she desperately waves Promises and words that they someday would wed And at-last showed the smile she had saved. So I can carry it with me. He spots her after a while And gets on the plane, taking carry-on from her smile he did see. And she softly whispers his words I want to see a smile so I can carry it with me. © 2010 LMWolf |
