monsters & moonbeams

monsters & moonbeams

A Poem by L.L Price
"

Sometimes what we love isn't what we need.

"
& what are fireflies & moonbeams when compared to galaxies and supernovas? but light that lends milk to glass. light that gives only candlelight to monsters. wild flowers need the warmth & power of stars. that their many vines may twist & travel between frozen valleys & jagged toothed mountains; for miles & miles & miles. petals do not bloom beside jars of superficial sunlight & the breeze from tiny wings do not blow enough might. & the moon becomes weary battling the night. maybe one day, when my leaves are brittle & brown, & my petals fade to pale, i will flee the arms of that flamed star & rest beside you. & we will talk & listen & love: catching winged pinprick stars beneath a candle moon.                                                                                                                                                                 i have missed you for always & always & always. sometimes moonbeams give way to monsters.

Added via smartphone; it butchered the format. Seems a lot shorter now.
