Butterfly

Butterfly

A Poem by Irresistaby Irish

"

I smile when I remember
The way you'd look into my eyes
Wrap your arms around me
And say, "I love you, Butterfly."
You promised to love me forever
And said we'd get married one day.
Sometimes I cry as I recall
How you took that promise away.
But somehow through it all
I managed to remain a Butterfly.
I flutter my wings gracefully
And keep my head held high.
I hope you never forget
The smile in my eyes,
Or the laughter that floated on the breeze
When you called me Butterfly.

"Butterfly dance to the sounds of tranquility." A deeply longing poem. I like your format and wording. The meaning is bittersweet. Good work.

This is beautiful... as I type, I am sipping coffee from my favorite mug that reads:

"Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly."

Posting these lines is like releasing a few more butterflies into the world... there will never be an excess of butterflies. Thanks for making the world a better place! :)
