Breaking

Breaking

A Poem by Ally

i can see you bending.
swallowing your feelings for the sake of others.
but theres only so far you can bend,
before you break.
iv seen you push those limits.
iv seen you on the edge, trying to hold on,
trying not to snap.
you paste on a glowing smile,
but i see the slight twitches
at the corners of your mouth.
your words are sweet,
but i see by your grimace
that you taste the metallic of underlying venom,
of the words you cannot say.
you choke out laughter,
but i can see the brightness
in yours eyes has flickered out,
the darkness in them telling truths
that are just below the surface.
i see this, yet say nothing.
i just sit there, while youre
bending
bending
bending
snapping
broken.
