These Things I Love

These Things I Love

A Poem by Ally

These Things I Love

I love your mind.

The way you say what you feel,

And can take my breath away

With only a few words.

I love your eyes.

The green surrounded by blue,

Like looking into tiny islands.

The way they crinkle and shine

When you laugh, or smile,

Or tell me you love me.

I love your hair.

The sharp smell of your shampoo

And your curls brushing my cheek

As you lay your head against mine.

I love your hands.

The feel of your fingers

Running down my arm

 Until they reach my fingers

And they lace together.

The heat of your palm on my cheek,

Your fingers cupping my chin

As  you tilt my head up to kiss me.

I love your voice.

When I call you late at night

And your deep tone is laced with sleep.

The way you whisper you love me

Into my ear, so that every other sound

Is no longer audible.

I love all these things,

Your mind, your eyes, your hair

Your hands, your fingers, your voice.

I love you, as a whole

And as all the things that make you up.
