These Pleasures Denied

These Pleasures Denied

A Poem by L Gracchus
"

Loving the wrong person.

"

That look speaks volumes,

Which no library can house.

That touch ignites a fire,

Which no river can drown.

That word calms storms,

Which no shelter can withstand.

That embrace melts hearts,

Which no fire can liquefy.

That kiss.

That single kiss.

That joining of souls.

That skipping heartbeat.

That kiss halts time,

Which no god can control.

In these pleasures,

I beg to partake.

Yet I lie here,

And there you lay,

Both in someone else's arms.

Kudos! I really like this poem. I love how it builds up with the four couplets which in themselves are smooth, simple and pregnant with meaning. Situations like this...argh!!!!!!! Perhaps that's why many a poet has dedicated even a few lines to love denied.
