REGRET

REGRET

A Poem by Holi Hudson
"

A POEM I HAD TO WRITE FOR CLASS ABOUT EITHER A MEMORABLE SILENCE, OR A PERSON. I DID BOTH. IT'S ABOUT MY GRANDPA.

"

I should have taken your hand,
When mom
Placed it in mine.

I should have,
At least,
Touched you,

One
     Last
             Time

I should have
Stopped them
When they went at it,
Yet again

I should have told them
Fighting
Wasn’t how you’d want to
Remember them.

I should have cried
When I needed to,
Instead,
I held back.

I should have,
I should have.
Now, I regret that.

So touching and sad
I wish i could have been there for my grandpa
I miss him alot. This is very well written and expressed

I almost cried, because it is so true.

I will always regret not being there for you when your grandpa died. I know it's not an excuse, but I never really knew my grandfather except the stories my mom tells me about him once a year at most and the one time we visited him. I never knew just how close you were to your grandpa and I carry that guilt with me into my other friendships, too.
