The War

The War

A Poem by LeDiisco

No matter what it takes,
Through trials and heartbreaks,
We will find a way,
But we may make a few mistakes.

Nothing we do is perfect,
But, damn it, we'll be so close.
I never meant for things to be this hard,
But doesn't the best take the most?

It may seem like I am not trying,
And it may seem like I'm getting distant,
But if this plans on going on,
I must remain resistant.

Romeo and Juliet,
This is the classic case,
No matter though how hard it is,
It's you I won't replace.

If it takes a little longer,
Or we grow slightly apart,
We still will be together,
For you own a part of my heart.

Very good. Good rhythm and good rhyme. I'm a sucker for well-written poems; particularly ones that rhyme. I know that's not the thing in vogue these days (I don't know why) but thanks for writing a classical styled poem that sends such a universal message about the nature of love and the sacrifice that it requires to make it worth anything at all.
