The Interview

The Interview

A Poem by Lewis Davis-Norman
"

This is a dark one, let me know what you think!

"

Reporter: Excuse me sir, have you a moment?

Man: I have a tortured lifetime.

Reporter: What is this place of lifeless stone?

Man: It is the slaughterhouse of evil.

Reporter: Why do the trees appear to whisper?

Man: For if they shout, they fall.

Reporter: Why won’t the Songthrush bless our ears?

Man: It fled to save its eyes.

Reporter: Why do the men droop in grey silence?

Man: They had their tears confiscated.

Reporter: What happened in this bitter place?

Man: The abhorred slowly perished.

Reporter: Why were these creatures vehemently despised?

Man: Their vile blood existed.

Reporter: What callous crimes did they commit?

Man: They claimed to have the right to live.

Reporter: What happened to these frightful beings?

Man: Their evil was cleansed by fire.

Reporter: Excuse me sir, but who are you?

Man: I am the blessed dictator

I thoroughly enjoyed this, dark and very inviting making me want to read on and see a face revealed at the end of this interview, the face wasn't a pleasant one and that was a twist indeed.

Wow, very impressive. So dark and harrowing. Like someone else has said, the ending makes you go back and read it again, which is somehow so appropriate.

Very dark indeed and original too. You successfully reflected the epitome of evilness in such short conversations.

Wow, the ending is really good - it made me read it all over again.
This is a very interesting poem, the whole reporter vs man thing.
Very interesting lines, really.
It portrays Hitler and his actions well -
"What callous crimes did they commit?"
"They claimed to have the right to live."

"Why do the trees appear to whisper?"
"For if they shout, they fall" - very interesting line

Great poem =D
