Love in the Light of Cinema Screen

Love in the Light of Cinema Screen

A Poem by Lewis Davis-Norman
"

Not quite finished yet, but I thought I'd treat you all anyway!

"

The old cinema hums with

Salted air, the scent of home

And belonging. A shard of memory

In a turbulent world.

Life gently rolls through a

Rose-tinted lens, spooling out

Humble histories, an age of

Affection and quaint charm.

The sign hangs chipped

The watermark of antique

Appeal. Weathered by the rain

It battles the disease of age.

In the supple moonlight of

The flicker of glowing screen

Two lovers immerse, absorbed

By mellow cinematic glimmers.

Their lives reeling out romance

and hypnotised by diamond pixels

They marvel upon distant worlds

Where reality is impossible.

Wow, interesting poem (as always).
I recently visited a set built for a 50's movie which was opened up to the public. There they also had a small cinema and old projectors on show.
This poem really reminds me of that.

I love the way that in the sadness of current reality, there is still the fantasy of yesterday.
The two lovers and their love captured forever on the filmstrip.

Great poem =D

Works on different levels, I like that. The fiction on the screen, real live in front of the screen, not always easu to see where one ends and the other begins... A great read for sure! Cheers!
