Amateur Dramatics

Amateur Dramatics

A Poem by Lewis Davis-Norman
"

Interesting little one here, let me know what you think :)

"
The stage is set

We are assembled

With ardent flair

Voices collect

A soliloquy

Of honest promise

In passionate tones

And favourable keys

The audience roar

With bold appeal

And with fervent zeal

They give applause.

But behind backdrops

A stage of whispers

Of knowing nods

And callous handshakes

Behind the eyes

Of the viewer's trust

Old truths rust

Tainted by lies.

Is this performed

from deep within

With humble charm

and void of sin

Or is this amateur

dramatics

And the puppetry

of politics?

This is great, I too loved the puppetry of politics ending. In fact it made me re read the poem and see it from an entirely different point of view then when I first read it.

"And the puppetry of politics?" The perfect ending for this great piece! Well played!
