Amateur Dramatics

Amateur Dramatics

A Poem by Lewis Davis-Norman
"

Interesting little one here, let me know what you think :)

"
The stage is set

We are assembled

With ardent flair

Voices collect

A soliloquy

Of honest promise

In passionate tones

And favourable keys

The audience roar

With bold appeal

And with fervent zeal

They give applause.

But behind backdrops

A stage of whispers

Of knowing nods

And callous handshakes

Behind the eyes

Of the viewer's trust

Old truths rust

Tainted by lies.

Is this performed

from deep within

With humble charm

and void of sin

Or is this amateur

dramatics

And the puppetry

of politics?

Very interesting. It flows very well. I like the references to vocal terms :) The last stanza is very telling - it shows two possibilities - whether someone means something or is just being forced to do it, and isnt sincere at all. Nice job :)

Lewis,

So you are in Washington, DC observing our political dilemma unfold in our congress and presidency? Your poem epitomizes our nation's political fiasco. Well done.

Very well thought out and delivered.

Thank you Cecil, means a lot. Unfortunately, it is not exclusive to your country. I don't know how m.. read more
yeah most politicians don't just lie for themselves but for someone larger stronger and scarier who pulls allot of strings really there are some things in this world if not done backstage that can fracture society itself i'm glad to stay away from politics they have nothing for me and i could do without their scandal this poem was well done the comparisons were good a stage play the way the politicians play all those who chose to listen and the real scary people who may be too hideous to show their faces shake hands backstage very good metaphor well written well captured well done.

I worked for a local government for 13 years and I know about the puppetry of politics. I have seen the viewers trust be shattered and their anger. Well done

"Behind the eyes
Of the viewer's trust
Old truths rust
Tainted by lies." Very well written.

Kind of had a whole Black Swan Persona to this piece but it was more about deception and the climb to success on putting the self first before others. This put the "DRAMA" in Dramatics. Very well written and shows how much influence and power have advantage over the struggling artist.
