SheA Story by LCSDCAA short story about the life of a dog that gets dumped by the people she loved but rescued but someone who actually deserves her love.
She vaguely remembers when they came to take her away from her mother and her brothers and sisters.
She recalls missing them very much. She was scared of her new surroundings at first. She soon, however, called the new place her home. She liked the people who bought her from the breeder. She trusted the woman that scratched her ears so nicely. She loved to play with the ball the man threw. She spent six happy years with her humans. She had a bed, a blanket, toys and good food. She wasn't aware of the changes at first. She did notice her humans turning colder the more the woman's belly grew. She was bored sometimes because they stopped playing with her. She was slapped with the newspapers once when she had to pee on the carpet after staying alone for a whole day. She was smacked on her butt when she chewed on a shoe because there was nothing else to do. She was shut into the basement for two days when the woman returned with something very loud. She heard her say "I don't want the dog near my baby." She was going on a car ride when they let her out. She had no idea it was the last time she would see her humans when her human gave her leash to the woman in the shelter. She was led to an empty cage with only a bowl of water and a dirty blanket. She waited patiently for her human to return. She was sad when she realized he would never come back. She didn't understand what she had done wrong. She missed her humans, her bed, her toys, and her ball. She stopped eating. She was heartbroken. She wanted to die. She was taken outside for a walk a few months after her humans gave her up. She wanted to stay in her cage but the friendly man gave her a treat. She walked with him in a park. She ran after a yellow tennis ball that the man threw. She liked the way he scratched her belly. She was devastated when the man brought her back to the empty cage. She cried for hours until she fell asleep. She had bad dreams that night. She couldn't believe it when the man came back the next day. She liked it when he said he would adopt her. She jumped into his car and they drove a while. She stuck her head out of the window and enjoyed the wind and the freedom. She sniffed around the man's apartment and liked it. She was allowed to sit on the couch with the man and even sleep in his bed. She grew old with her new human and forgot all about the people who never deserved a pet's love. © 2014 LCSDCAAuthor's Note
