Apathy

Apathy

A Poem by L.C. Deckard
"

Divided and conquered by the sins of the high

"
A person may be judged by the years they carry in ways that no one can grasp
Regardless of the time passed
The people of every generation have souls of all ages

A man, now past his prime, slips into an eternal childlike state
A child, forced to experience the laws of feeble adults, no longer has time for play
They walk as you and I, but see differently than one would expect

Days come and go
Becoming shorter and darker by the minute
The courts decide whether a child possesses the mental maturity to make a decision regarding his or her life
And yet, they allow a mad man to decide another’s fate
Life or Death

What say you?
If a child can be forced to live in pain by the hand of a courts ruling
If a man can be condemned to death by the words of madness uttered in a dream
What. Say. You.
Which fate dances through your core?

In a world of suffering and disease
Woes provided by leaders of forked tongues
Soldiers sent to play war at the behest of another lay dying
Swords pierce the flesh of the unknown soldier
A death seem fit for a burden
A burden, born from pride and greed of the few.

About
I've been writing on and off for years. Writing has always been an outlet used to purge those emotions unfit for the day to day social dance. My writing comes from a place of messy uncontrolled urges .. more..
