Wear your heart on your sleeve

Wear your heart on your sleeve

A Poem by Lotus Allgoode

The most demeaning part of human folly
is the ease of stumbling deep into the grasp of others.
We effortlessly allow ourselves
to place our hearts
in the strangling grasp of angry, calloused hands.
We force ourselves to be susceptible to torture
in hopes of returned love,
promised but never fulfilled.
We will always accept the pain.
There is never an ultimate epiphany
in the realm of love.
The evolutionary development
of self awareness and culture
has created a species
of self loathing, destructive creatures.
There is no cure, no recovery plan, no salvation
for those afflicted with the need for affection.
There's no hope
for ANY OF US.
