Why I Peservere

Why I Peservere

A Poem by EL LAO

The world turns, never stopping,

The wind blows, never stopping,

The river flows, never stopping,

But we age and lose our existence,

Not loving, not crying, but ceasing to be

A concept that grips me

Squeezes me, steals my breathe

Frightens my mind, and makes my heart beat uncontrollably,

Death has always been around

Does not judge anyone

Doesn’t discriminate, but takes

I laugh, for I never met death

But had near encounters

I don’t look to it, or for it

But when it is near I open my eyes,

And stare at it, reminding me of what I am striving to be
