The cage

These are just some feeling that spring forth, wondering if anyone who reads this feels the same

We step out into the world, eyes wide open

Truly looking at everything for the first time

Surrendering our true selves to our surroundings.

Taking it, and living in this world

However we stop, go back into the cage

Now we tasted freedom, ecstasy, and life

A freedom that equates into expression of our true selves

In taking everything and truly appreciating it 

We created an urge to escape once again

But can't, because of the fear

So now we are stuck between an urge and fear

Inspired, to let go and release everything inside but trapped

Creativity, Expression, Inspiration, life is what it is

Wishing with all out might to let go but too afraid

Too afraid to venture out of this cage,We now call our home

finding peace with fear and shunning freedom

Uncertainty is the world we wish to know

But not knowing is uneasiness, uncomforting

A voice screams, "it doesn't matter, let go"

"Explore, discover, and show the world who you are"

"Let nothing stop you from obtaining your freedom"

A freedom to showing what is "you"

What goes inside you, and what you feel

But most don't because of the fear of rejection

"What happens if no one likes me"

"What happens if it is disgusting"

Negativity, keeps flowing and feeding fear

So we give up and let it swallow us, never showing the world "ME"

This a really thought provoking and well written piece. Showing ourselves as who we really are is a scaring thing in today's day and age. I really liked this poem! I gave it a 85/100 ^^
