A Poem by LA Lorena

Do I cross your mind from time to time?
Do you wonder where I've gone?
Do you imagine what this year has brought?
How my life, it has moved on?

Do you think about who's loving me?
Have I found somebody new?
Do you wonder if I truly loved
Or if I ever think of you?

Do you wonder if I have regrets?
If I'd change the hands of time?
Do you see yourself in what I write
feel the pain in every line?

I'll give to you the answers

laced between the rhyme

and slowly slip away again

immersed in passing time

I miss you more than you could know
wish the healing could begin
but I still hear your voice in whispers
feel your hands upon my skin

A piece of me is missing
I'm afraid I've lost my way
I've lost the will to carry on
and sink further down each day

A year has passed since the fateful day
When I bid my love adieu
though tears have dried, my soul yet cries
for my heart still yearns for you

Past mistakes have caged me
left me weak instead of strong
guilt and duty chain me here
instead of there, where I belong

this is a wonderfully penned poem on love and love lost...somewhere along the line, I think we all experience this end (or interlude...one never knows), usually, but not always our first love...why is that, I wonder. In some cases, 40 years pass and still these feelings...you will always miss a part in your heart, but there's still plenty left for the next lucky man...
Beautiful, heartfelt write that struck a chord in my soul...
lovely, LA

"...and slowly slip away again
immersed in passing time"

If I were this lost love, those words would crush me.
Despite claims of true regret, emotional destitution, strong residual romantic yearnings--indeed, an outright proclamation of abiding love--the gal is staying gone. This man is, apparently, supposed to find consolation in the fact that she's unhappy about it.
Woman, thou art a mystery to the gods! Your unhappiness only adds to his pain; he loves you.
Truly heartfelt, intense and artfully executed poetry. A tragic outcome, however, for you both.

Awww this reminds me of my past break up but I had a different ending if this was my poem. I do wonder if she misses me and if she has regrets but that is something I will never know and actually I really don't care anymore. For some a break up is bad and they are left wanting the past more than they want a future but we all know this will change in time as the soul heals. I know my X is in this group and yes that gives me great satisfaction in my heart. For others break ups are breaking free of a situation where they were lost and now they are once again free to be who they really are. I am in this group and that is why I have no regrets at all for leaving. Love this poem and welcome back. I can only hope that the person in this poem finds some measure of peace in their heart.

The past is like a two sided coin. Can bring back a good memory or a sad one. Looking at the past we can wish for things lost and we cannot find again.
"I miss you more than you could know
wish the healing could begin
but I still hear your voice in whispers
feel your hands upon my skin"
Thank you for a amazing poem.
