Saturdays

Saturdays

A Poem by LA Lorena

Saturday mornings
coffee cup in hand
I stare glassily
at the flyers,
gazing longingly
at the bevvy
of pretty shoes
and handbags
on sale this week
A grunt of disapproval
He knows what I'm about
Spoil sport!
how many shoes and purses
can one woman need?
it's a rhetorical question
when asked of one woman
with three closets
and an empty heart

wow, a little humor will not spoil everything. i really like it. unexpected at the end. but the end gives it the real story. :)

Such sad humor.
I really like the warm and fuzzy feel to this poem. It moves easy and brings an easy smile... until the last line. Strong impact there.

Hmmm let me see.. I'm thinking some tennies for just kickin about, and maybe some work style boots for getting muddy in the garden, and maybe a pair of nice loafers in case you have to go out somwhere special in your sunday go to meetins... yeah, that should cover it nicely yes... oh, no need to thank me, your wonderful poem more then paid for my consulting fee...

what a deceptive piece these proved to be. the last line gives the truth of the matter. a great write and powerful because of that line. great write.

Oh wow! This one touched me deeply. Personnally I own more books than clothes and shoes........but those things we long for do not make us happy when we get them do they? Excellent piece Lorena

Quality work. This hits so hard and true it'll take all day to work off the shared (male) guilt!
