inky lines upon pale pages

wrapped metaphors shroud me

in mystery

and veiled intentions wear clever disguises

 

 

 

cloaked in lace imagery

I prettily beg to be peeled back

layer by layer

to expose that hidden and secret

inner core

I need you

 

 

 

only you can undress me

gently pry apart my lines

tenderly palpate stanzas

and oh so lovingly

coax my intentions

Your sensual strokes most certainly tickle these pages and I dare say many poets can relate to this euphoria whilst longing to be understood. Thank you Eros. I feel that poetry and its writing is very akin to lovemaking. I often write with my reader in mind as an imagined and willing participant to a seduction of words and imagery.

I really do love rhyming poetry, I like the cadence and flow, finding that groove and rhythm that just cuts it loose and lets it run. It is somewhat confining though, all that structure, and being a very regimented and OCD type personality, it works well and feels comfortable. However, I am trying to force myself to be less confining and regimented in my approach to things, to loosen up on the control, and just let it fall where it may. It's a difficult thing to do for me, and I find i am constantly fighting the urge to go back and edit and tweak, something I seldom do when writing rhyming poetry.

I know exactly what you mean. I have tried free verse a few times and it feels awkward to me...rhyming is so easy. But I will keep trying...when I read Frieda's stuff it amazes me. But she says she can't rhyme that well. I guess we each have our own thing. It seems everytime I write rhyming poetry I have a melody in my head that i follow. i want the words and syllable count to match as best i can. Still I like reading free-verse...it truly does amaze me, but I will tell you, all of you girls on this site amaze me. I loev all of the poetry, I am learning so much.

I like the free verse poetry style , but as an analytical thinker, I often find it very convoluted and contrived, as if it is designed to confound and confuse to show some superiority of awareness. LOL. I prefer a much simpler and basic approach, I don't want to baffle with bullshit. I know rhyming poetry gets a bad rap as being stodgey and old-fashioned, but free verse can be pretty bloody pretentious sometimes :D.

They can make fun of rhyming if they want, I don't care. I write what I like and I write to make people smile. I just sent you an RR on a very deep love poem I wrote. Not really, but like I said I like to make people smile.
