There

There

A Poem by LA Lorena

I'll not let on

I carry on composed.  stoic

my surface granite encrusted

memories live, breathe, feel

eyes dead hollow

long since drowned in depths of earthy brown

I walk a different ocean's shores

yet those breezes ever carry

the co-mingled and lingering scent of love

Chanel Sensuelle Allure and heady musk

odor settles like cumulus

permeating every pore

infused with every ragged breath

Inhale.  I take you in.

you enter and seek solace in my depths

Air electric.  atoms charged

every nerve and fibre at attention

you fill me

I see you everywhere

strain for that touch

No matter the time, space, or distance between

drawn and written lines and words of past and present

I ache, yearn, hunger

close my eyes to truth.  Exhale

I still feel you...

   There

Those damn stoic masks of stone that we choose to wear do little to hide the frail fragments of what lies behind our eyes. In the place of the aching, those feelings of hunger devour any sense of peace for what was. I hope this comes from your brilliant imagination, sweet poet, and not from biography.

I agree with jacob. Just leave the word "odor out." It was going to be my suggestion, but jacob is smarter faster.

Can I publish this?

I will be, in less than 2 weeks!
A loss that leaves a hole that will never be filled. This write is a telling glance up to heaven wanting just a glimmer of hope to break the hard ice of the shell of pain.
Soooo true and soooo good!

distance makes no difference in love. Love is what it is and remains strong in every memory.......beautiful Lorena.

thanks for reading Aidz. sleep tight!
What a beautiful memory to long for once more. When memory brings so much emotion, longing, desire, even sadness at its distance, then you know how cherished a memory that is. beautifully portrayed to the reader sweetie. That ending exhale clinches it.

Interesting poem, love the line "I walk a different ocean's shores" you managed to show that life is worth living with his/her presence there with you, memories will never die...anyway great job

This is like rebirth in the heart, like wisdom of having experienced much, I can feel the tangible self-growth through love in this.

It's as if love has touched a spiritual awareness and come back to her roots with new illuminations.

oh gosh you are giving me ideas!
That first stanza really set the tone. A vivid journey into a world of desire and/ limitation. How do we reconcile the two? Sometimes we don't we just carry the burden of memory, and the taste of love. A passionate and melancholy piece that hit home. Well penned LA
