Let it Be

Let it Be

A Poem by LA Lorena
"

Just poking a little fun.........

"

I'm suffering a mid-life crisis

as some of you might guess

my world is just in shambles

and my head is quite a mess

and everywhere that I might go

I'm faced with media shite

to buy their stupid products

and believe their insane hype

are you ready for my ranting?

no, you shall not make me stop

they want my wallet and my mind

they beg for me to shop!

wrinkles are unsightly

we must be smoothed and plumped

bovine, equine injection sites

those chemicals are dumped

they'll fill me with their bondo

paralyze my brow

saline b***s or silicone

it doesn't matter now

crows feet, hooked beak

won't you let me be?

can't I just be left alone

completely chemical free?

there's pump up bras for those that fall

those girls must rise again

media hype is killing us

it's time to raise my pen!

fat-free dressing underwear

thanks to Maiden-form

tummy flattering wonders

to make your muffin top conform

not content to stay above the belt

they've now gone marching down

invaded my sweet delta

it's the talk of all the town

seems Brown Betty's in the box

for God's sake let her be!

won't be middle age that does it

but the cures that will kill me

I work in retail. Woman have a million choices to look younger. I wonder sometimes do they work? I like aging myself. Youth had it time. Good to understand life and know what you need and want. I like the description in the poem. I watch woman in the make-up aisles. Like looking for a miracle. I tell young people. Don't smoke. Cigarettes will slowly cook your face. No weakness in the fun poem to read. Thank you for the excellent poem.

Modern advances leave our natural form obsolete. It is odd what brings about our tears today... We won't even want to live to the ripe old ages our modern wonders allow us.
Well penned.

Sometimes it's good to be on the soapbox of life. This was humorous, but so true! I loved your rhyming too....which would be hard for me considering the subject. But you, you pull it off so effortlessly. I had fun reading this! :)

thanks, I had fun with this write. glad you found it to your liking!
HA HA I love the banter with the former self in this piece, then the thought process switches to a nursing rhyme cadence, and the silly truths having a fit along the stanzas took a great deal of planning , almost memory like like the inner child whining to mother; a mother of nature pushing time through the constrains of society...great piece

LOL
And we always wonder what takes so long to get ready?
Still...
The effort put forth is appreciated. And lest we forget, take us shopping for cosmetics just once. It will be enough to remind us how much we do like what we see.
Magic shows... nice concepts!

Ah, the middle age lamentations depicted with the Lorena humor that is exclusive to her. This is the Botox of poetry and I enjoyed it tremendously.
