The Epitome and Reasons For My Eternal Loneliness

The Epitome and Reasons For My Eternal Loneliness

A Poem by Brandon Langley

I've got an empty web page with my poems in the back,
I've got two old folks who've got hopes on my back,
When I'm a good boy they sometimes let me have a snack.

I've got a few staples holding my heart in,
Got those broken-rib blues,
Got thirteen girls for a heartbreak to choose from,
I've got an underbite,
And I've got to enlight,
I've got amazing powers of self-estimation.
And that is how I know,
When you try to think through,
There'll be nobody home.

I've got that obligatory hipster yearn,
And I've got the inevitable window ferns,
All down the front of my favorite patch of dirt.

I've got pristine scars on my fingers,
I've got my feelings on a sleeve,
I've got the band's piano to make me feel justified.
I've got mildly blaring eyes,
And I've got a strong urge to cry,
But I got no one to cry to,
Oooooh, babe. When I pick up the phone,
There'll be nobody home.

This eventually devloved into a sappy parody of Pink Floyd's Nobody Home. Sorry.
