Child

Child

A Poem by Brandon Langley

All this freedom,
All this time,
What's it worth?
If I can't spend it with you?

Life is humdrum,
Not worth a dime,
To be so down to Earth,
What's the point, without you?

Every year I realize,
You are but a little girl,
Laughing at the breeze,
Why should I breathe it in, if I can't share this time with you?

Look into my eyes,
Give me a twirl,
Just take me, please,
Why should I come home, if I won't see you?

So let the squad come,
Don't want to cause any more trifles,
All you did was cast doubt,
So I won't try to break free.

Of your love, what's the sum?
And the men raise their rifles,
As the sergeant calls out.
Now what has become of me?

And who might you be?
It's titled child because my muse at the time was childish.
