Through This ProjectA Poem by Brandon LangleyA bit of a reflection on my experience doing a project for my English class. We had to do a report on a genocide other than the holocaust: I chose the German Expulsion after WWII
Through this project,
I learned a lot. A lot about Germans, A lot about Europeans. A lot about myself, And a lot about my classmates. "That's not a genocide!" They said. "That's what they get!" They said. But did the innocent people of German ethnicity, Who lived through central and eastern Europe, Deserve that? If our retaliation is the same as their attack, What are we to gain? Genocide does not solve genocide, And denial solves even less. The Nazis may have been inglorious b******s, Ruthless, heartless, casting a shadow of doubt and resent upon Germany for decades to come. But the Allies were glorious b******s, Ruthless, heartless, casting a light of prosperity and superiority upon themselves forever. So, instead of damning the Germans, Let us just honour the dead, All of them.
