After Parting

After Parting

A Poem by L'enfant Terrible
"

Temporary abandonment.

"

Palpitating exhaustion

Caught me on this shore

Palpable and breathy,

The sea washes my sores

Trickling down my fingertips

Luminous yet mysteriously small

Sea droplets of salt and taste

Of the brink, the barnacle and the ball

And I lie motionlessly worn

By the gentle stirring of the surf

The audible stirring of mirth

After he and I parted until the morn
