The Sea

The Sea

A Poem by L'enfant Terrible
"

The non-existent dark sea.

"

Once there was a man

Who claimed that he had seen

The sea that was not there

By the land that has never been

He did not sail nor did he swim

The waters that could never be

He did not listen nor did he gaze

Upon the never heaving, breathing sea

But he was privy, he was aware

That the land was not there

But he could not deny what he did see

Was the always heaving, grieving sea

Author's Note

L'enfant Terrible
I feel like the rhyme lacks in creativity; I'm not too satisfied with it.

Sounds to me like they're making themselves see something that they know isn't there but maybe want it to exist with too much passion. Otherwise, rhyme doesn't have to be creative to give great flow to the poem as you did here, I much more prefer some simple rhyme and a flowing read than a complication. But that's just my opinion, and I think the poem's great.

To me, that's better than your other poem, lack of rhyme doesn't matter, it's all about showing your heart in an emotional poem, or showing your mind in a clever poem like this one
