The Babylonian Sun

The Babylonian Sun

A Poem by L'enfant Terrible

She was the world

She was the crimson dye

And she was the flaming view

Of every waking eye

She was the earth

She would grow us relentlessly out

Into the scorched horizon

Overhead the harrowing south

She was my passion

She was every mother and son

She was the sun warmth falling

Onto the gates of my own Babylon

Ahh, I've long stopped trying to find meaning in other people's poetry (especially since this bears crucial historical meaning to me as a History nerd) but yes, she was fire, unstoppable, unending, I love the vigor in this. She will grow us out, she will be infinite, she ceases for no one and nothing, she keeps going. This bears so much power, like reaching for the sky. Liberating in the best sense of the word.

Definitely different from a lot of the poems that I see on here. I think that simplicity is often the best route, and I definitely find this a very easy read.
