A Penniless Smile.

A Penniless Smile.

A Poem by kylie

I wish, I wish upon a soul of free will and free of denial.

Under the turning light of the afternoon sun, a satiric moment presents itself in the hands of a homeless man, holding a torn, soggy, cardboard sign with the word "smile"

written in simple black ink on it's pathetic front. This sign, he holds upside down and keeps to himself in the cluster of beggers and mendicants around him. His own world consists of so much mystery, but according to a society made up of narcissistic homosapiens, this mystery is not worth their time. This mystery, is a lost cause; mere scrap for the birds.

What they do not know though, is this story is for the birds, for like a bird, this story will fly free of burden. Something the time-consumed search for,

 but will never find.

Definitely one of my favorite writings. When I was young I was fixated on such things. After a short bout with depression because I couldn't fully understand the mystery, I realized that's why life needs writers. Thank you for the good read.
