Strawberry Wine

Strawberry Wine

A Poem by kylie

Where do you plan on going when these tides change?

I was thinking of picking up a bottle of that strawberry wine you love.

I know it gives you headaches.

Then I'll take you to that cliffside we discovered in August.

In this wind?

I'll drive you to it, we'll chase the sun.

You know I can't stay that long.

Then sit with me here for a while, we can collect shells like the first night.

I think you've been rotting away in this salted air.

Never, my darling, it reminds me of you.

One day you'll let go and leave me in these waves.

Never.

You'll share my wine with someone who will love it almost as much as I.

And I will be at peace knowing you will have lived a life so big that you had to be loved more than once.

Leave me to these waves.
