The One That Got Away...

Reminising of a love lost...

It's been said you should "never look back" or "live in the past".

I've heard "what was" and "what if's", can destory a man fast.

They say "yesterday is gone forever" and "live for today".

Though try as I might,.. My mind doesn't work that way.

Forgive and forget... pride and regret.

But how does one remorse, without becoming upset?

And why would I disown these memories of my own. 

For they are mine to relive,.. mine and mine alone.

Though time has a way of making things change.

I ask reconciliation from what was estranged.

And...

A second chance to show my affection.

A second chance to right all the wrong's.

A second chance to feel whole again.

And be the man you wanted all along...

I can already see where this train of thought's heading.

And feel the regrets and "what if's" thought's spreading.

Lost in a memory... bordering on fantasy.

Accepting unreality with open arms happily.

I try to stay focused,.. But still my mind strays.
