Life's a journey

Life's a journey

A Poem by SouthernBelle

Life's a journey

I learn as I go

I make mistakes

but hey who doesn't

I don't want to learn

from other people

I want to learn from

my mistakes

I'm not a perfect child

in fact I'd like to kill my parents

they don't care about me

no one in that family does

I have Two years

One month

and Twenty-Seven days

till I turn Eighteen

The day of my Eighteenth birthday

I'm gone

I will not life here anymore

I'm moving away

It might be a mistake but

life's a journey

I'll make mistakes

but I don't care

I'm a teenager

that's what I do

and if my parents don't like it

I'll move out

My life is what I make of it

and right now it's horrible

but I'm turning it around

for me and only me

This was a sad, but good poem. I can definitely relate to that poem a lot more than some could, but there is a lot of turmoil going on in this one.

When I turned eighteen, I thought that my parents hated me, and that the world was out to get me. Normal teenage agnst. Right? Well, I moved, and left them right when I turned eighteen.

I went clear across the US, and moved in with someone that I fell in love with. I got pregnant. . . . Miscarried because of him. . . . I wound up hurting my family in the long run of things by leaving them when I thought that they didn't care when they did, and then by letting them know that I miscarried, but didn't tell them that I was pregnant to begin with.

Life is going to be hard. You just have to realize who you are, and what you want to become in the end. You are a strong individual, and you have the power to control your life. Don't let your life control you. :)

Love you, and hope your world shines like the brightest nova in the sky at night.

Betha. :)

Perfect display of the mental state of a lot of youth that go through s**t at home. Hope everything works out for you, though it may take time. Great poem.

ok this is a sad tale .. i agree to all the trauma expressed in this poem ..
but i'll tell you something that i remember .. said by my teacher about a decade back ...
"learn from the mistakes of others, you don't have a life enough to commit all of them yourself" .. it's true and it's been working for me through and through ...
smile and smile as much as you can ... God doesn't test everyone for long ... the happy times are just a corner away ... just have faith ..

Your words are true in the poem. We will make many mistakes. A wise person learn from them and try not to repeat.
"It might be a mistake but
life's a journey "
Thank you for the excellent poem.

This is a well written poem. I like that it rings of honesty, truth, and realism.

That said... if this is how you really feel, be careful.

This world just loves to pretend to help young girls who have a poor relationship with their parents (and other people who "should" be there to support them), but then it often chews them up and spits them out.

I have seen someone in WC who pretended to be a teenage boy, but looked to be a much older man. Just why would he do this? that kind of thing worries me. So although I like the authenticity of this poem, I cation you that sometimes it is better to learn from others mistakes. As a young woman (in what at times is a dangerous world) you do not want to learn some things by experience.

Love your work, this is a strong piece, that is well written.

High marks from me :)

PS I am the age of a grandfather so... take it for what it is worth.
