All the stars are gone

All the stars are gone

A Poem by Toumei

All the stars are gone

Side by side
Looking ahead
You hold my hand
But avoid my gaze

Hip to hip
Your laughter echoes in the silence
A feeble attempt to blur your visage
With empty words to keep me spellbound

I dispel the dissonance and speak,
If my existence is no more than the
Tick
Of your watch, then
Release my hand

You remain silent.

As I start to lessen my grip,
I feel yours tighten, and I stop
And for the first time you look at me directly.
In that instant,  I am brought to my knees
Startled by the sudden impact.

The promise is made.

A sweet and beautiful moment and poem. A pleasure to read. Best days in a life when someone weaken your knees.

I could read this numerous times. The vocabulary was excellent and it was unique in it's writing style. I love some of the phases and especially the last one :

' As I start to lessen my grip,
I feel yours tighten, and I stop
And for the first time you look at me directly.
In that instant, I am brought to my knees
Startled by the sudden impact.'

I really enjoy this, quite beautiful in it's simplistic elloquence. I enjoy the line breaking, a fan myself of using them in a way you have. I enjoy some of your phrases as well, my favorite being "I dispel the dissonance". Lovely work =)
