Happy Birthday

A birthday poem

They say there won’t be light without darkness

Or life without death

Well, what’s me without you?

What would family mean without you?

 

Maybe I don’t say this much often

How much I’m glad to have you

How much more than a sister you mean to me

How much my world utterly revolves around yours

 

Today I celebrate you

Like the birds celebrate a new day

Like the bats dance for the night

I celebrate your coming into this world

 

Your birthday to me is a holiday

It means that much to me

There is no day I enjoy more

Than the day of your coming…

 

I would write a book for this

But still it won’t be enough

To express how much I love you

Nor how much good I wish for you
