a fire atop the tower

a fire atop the tower

A Poem by poddar kushal

A fire atop the tower

(Janet Louise -  )

Utter those magical screams at our souls,

Echoes of it knocking around the walls.

A towering monument to pretend

You can die away easily without

Saying bye to the rest of them left here.

Whisper of the hand to push you over

Is just another of those satanic

Days, filled with love seeking its sacrifice.

Let your hair fly in your face with the gust

Of gutsy air daring to touch dreams.

Like a dog returns to the dry death’s place

Of an offspring lost, your memory comes

To haunt the delicate spot where it hurts.

The tower lightens itself with the fire

Of eyes and a distant sunset… blue dies.

You step down amid another life’s days.

,,,your memory comes to haunt the delicate spot where it hurts,,, this is one of my favorite lines. our memories do that and then the voices begin their ,,,magical screams at our souls.,, we all wish i think though we'd never admit it that we could just step away and not say goodbye. this is so tragic a poem and the ending made me catch my breath and just sit in silence for a bit.
