Ghastly AdventureA Story by KurureenuAlison is back! A year after the 'haunted' Spanish Manor incident, she is willing to go onto another adventure, this time in a nearby town where a house is being searched after a recent murder.
Hi. You may not know me but my name is Alyssa. I have dishwater blonde hair and green-ish eyes. I’m basically a tomboy because I hate anything that comes come close to being girly. Also, I had one of the best times last year. See, I’m the one that ended the whole ‘haunted Spanish manor’ thing from a dare that I had to do. I was hoping on going back, y’know, to relive the whole thing, but the very next day it collapsed due to structure damage and a new house was built. (The building started in early spring and was finished by the end of summer. It was quickly done...) This year I got both of my friends, Vanessa (spunky, hyper, spirited girl that has brunette hair and blue-brown eyes) and Pablo (who looked exactly like the ghost the I encountered last year) to help me out find some sort of adventure this Halloween since I couldn’t go to the manor. Instead, I got stuck volunteering on the other side of the town to help out with decorations and floats for the Annual Pumpkin Parade. Right now I’m in my room waiting for- “Alyssa! Your boyfriend is here!” my little sister (which is literally my mini double) shouted. “Andrea!” I growled as I made my way downstairs. “Don’t make assumptions!” “I don’t know what assumptions mean, remember?” she countered. Smart a*s little devil. “Git!” I replied in my thick Texan accent. Yes, we live in Texas. It’s actually a good thing because our closest neighbors are two miles away from us. (We live in a more scattered part of Texas.) “Alyssa!” Pablo called from the door, gaining my attention. “What?!” I replied loudly as my (girlish) double pranced away. “Stop shouting so we can get going! Vamos! Vamos!” he replied impatiently. “No hablas español a me!” I replied as I grabbed my blood red (I love Halloween spirit) sweater and ran out the door shouting, “I’m off to the thing!” to my mom before I closed the door. “Puedo hablar español si quiero,” Pablo muttered. His parents are basically Mexican and speak a lot of spanish. I’m not that fast but hanging with Pable boosted my grade more (and somewhat my speed). “Shut up. Did you bring the car?” I asked as I put on my sweater on the step. “Nope. I walked the five miles here,” Pablo replied with the obvious sarcasm. “It’s not even five miles, smart a*s,” I muttered as I paced to his beat up yellow ‘85 Corvette. I glanced into the passenger window to see Vanessa already in the seat. “Pablo!” I whined, “You were supposed to pick me up first!” “Too bad, so sad,” Vanessa chanted as I got into the back. “Let’s just go,” I sighed melodramatically as I fell back into the seat with a hand to my forehead. “Drama queen,” my two friends muttered in unison as Pable started off. I just sighed and buckled up as we started to town. (Be safe, Buckle up. Click it or Ticket. Getting off subject, sorry.)
xxxyyyzzz We finally arrived in town and walked through the crowd of people that were already trying to decorate for the parade. Most of the people were classmates of ours. This parade is popular except it cuts into some of my nighttime prowling, (I just mess around and try to scare people when it gets dark.)which is the reason why I never went to it. Eventually we were brought to the boss of all this decorating who told us what we can do. “Y’all can set up the corn maze,” she muttered as she lifted something up. Despite her size she was strong. “It’s over on the west side of the park.” All three of us nodded and went off. Yes it is a parade but there’s also a fest going on in the park. The corn maze is just something to get you lost. Nothing scary. I kept my ears open for any haunting rumors as we worked. There was one freaky woman that just glared at me like I was crazy. I was about to say something but Vanessa kicked me in the butt and told me to get moving. I looked back and the woman was gone. Ooh... Scary. (Sarcasm.) “Did y’all see that woman who was glaring at me?” I asked later when we were about to finish up. “What woman?” Vanessa asked as she straightened some of the corn stalks. “The one who was glaring at me! I was about to say something but you kicked me!” I shouted as Vanessa smiled slightly and Pablo disappeared into the corn to get away from my ‘bocca grande’. (Big mouth, if you don’t know.) “Fine, fine... I think we’re practically done,” Vanessa muttered as she stood up. I was about to speak when I heard some whispering nearby. (Good ears.) The keywords ‘mysterious death’ got my attention though. “Did you hear about it?” one voice whispered. “Yeah. Someone died but he was so young,” another replied. “I can’t believe it was only in the next town over.” “In that haunted house-” “For real!” I interrupted seeming to have moved from my spot about two yards away to into their conversation. “Sorry. Gotta go,” I muttered quickly turning and running into Pablo. “What happened?” he asked me raising his eyebrows. “A haunted house in next town over!” I shouted into his face with a smile plastered on like some lunatic. “Mios Dio... Por favor no pienses de,” Pablo muttered. “Can you give me a ride tomorrow!” I more shouted than asked. “Do you know where it is?” Pablo asked giving me a look that said that he was more mature than me. I just blinked and smacked my head as an answer. “Exactly. Luckily, I read the paper,” he chuckled. “Really! Awesome! So can you, can you, can you?” I asked jumping up and down. I can get excited if I want! He made a thinking face and sighed with a shrug. “Fine, I guess,” he muttered. Then I tackled him (practically). “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” I shouted as Vanessa came up to us covering her ears. “What’s happening?” Vanessa asked as she watched me dance crazily. “Haunted house. She, for some reason, loves the idea,” Pablo answered, staring at me. “Oh. This time I’m coming. Last year, she almost died.” She smiled and added, “Though it might’ve been a good thing.” This made me stop and glare at her which only succeeded in making them both laugh. I sighed as Pablo suggest that we leave since it was getting dark. Time for nighttime prowling! YES!!!
xxxyyyzzz
The next day I waited on the front steps of my house. My pack laid next to me, the same one as last year. I made sure I had my flash light, a recorder, a couple of books, and two necklaces. (I’m like that.) Finally Pablo’s car pulled up with Vanessa driving. Pablo came out of the passenger side. “Hey Alyssa,” Pablo called. “Vanessa suggested that we bring a notebook and a marker. I managed to find a pendulum also.” “Okays,” I smiled. “And we’re stopping at a store on the way!” Vanessa shouted. “Okay! And Alyssa is paying for some food!” Pablo volunteered receiving a deep growl from me. “Kidding!” he shouted running away as I chased him into the back seat. YES!!! Shotgun! So we stopped by the small store. Vanessa and I went in, bought three little lunches and a couple of cameras there and wasted a bit of time looking at the candy and soda. (As soon as we came in Pablo complained that we took too long and so I threw his lunch at him.) “So we need to go to Cinderil,” Pablo pointed out to Vanessa. I wondered why Vanessa was driving but I was more excited about the house. Soon Pablo was giving directions to the house until we finally reached the house. We parked the car in a parking lot not too far away, due to there being police tape. “Alyssa, are you sure you want to do this?” Vanessa asked. I gulped slightly and nodded. I’m not going to chicken out. This will probably be more fun than last year! So all three of us approached the house looking in good shape and circled around back to sneak in through the back door. (Which was surprisingly unlocked.) As soon as I stepped in I was chilly. This house has got to be haunted! This only got me more excited as Vanessa handed me a camera telling me to take some photos of the rooms. Then afterward I was supposed to meet up with the two as we split up. I went straight to the basement armed with a recorder in my hand and took a picture of the steps. “Hello?” I called quietly down the stairs as I started my way down. “May you please tell me your name?” (Yes. There is such thing as MANNERS!) I stepped down onto the cold cement floor and took some more pictures around me and back up the stairs. “Can you give me a sign that you are around? Knock something down or-” I stopped as a noise erupted from a table that had some work tools on it. A tin can full of nails was knocked over and sprawled on the table and floor. I quickly took a photo in that area as I muttered ‘strike a pose’ in a low voice. I was about to speak again until I was pushed roughly against the wall as my recorder fell out of my hand. I felt pressure against my throat. Holding on to the camera tightly, I tried to wind it back up as I tried to keep myself calm. The camera flashed and I heard a shout from nearby. The pressure disappears as my vision, that had just started to blur, came back into focus as I tried to find out who shouted. “I knew you were going to come here,” a female voice muttered as I felt a hand on my left shoulder. I jumped and looked over to the same woman that gave me the glare before at the maze. “You! I know you!” I blurted loudly. She clamped a hand over my mouth and glanced around quickly. “Don’t speak so loud! We’re not even supposed to be here!” she scolded in a whisper. I just shrugged and pried her hand off. “Who are you?” I asked. “Donna Roeb,” she muttered giving me a glare... Again. It was pretty intense because her eyes were dark and her hair was black. “You’re the only one here, right?” she asked. “No. My friends are upstairs,” I replied slowly giving her a strange look. “We have to find them,” she stated as she dragged me up the stairs. “This house is consumed by a dangerous entity.” I jerked my hand from hers quickly and she turned another glare onto me. “I’m not afraid of ghosts, okay? I got attacked by one last year but also got rid of it” stated. “But last year you still had help,” Donna whispered low. “What... Do you mean by that?” I asked. “A spirit helped you last time.” Now my heart was beating fast. How did she know this?! “W-what are you?” I asked slowly. “I’m-” “Alyssa! Pablo!” Vanessa’s cry pierced through. “No time now,” Donna stated running toward Vanessa’s shout as I followed with equal speed. Donna quickly ran into the room as I made a graceful entrance. (Not really... I actually tripped.) I looked toward Vanessa, who was on the ground, still conscious, with a shattered vase nearby. Pablo raced in, almost knocking me over. “What happened here?” I (basically) shouted. “Don’t shout,” Donna hissed. “Who is she?” Pablo asked pointing to Donna. I basically ignored him and ran over to Vanessa and helped her up. “Are you okay?” I asked her as she slowly nodded saying something about ‘since nothing’s broken... blah, blah, blah’. I never listen. I was hearing something else extremely close. Practically next to my ear but the voice sounded strained and masculine like it was a man shouting. I think it said ‘get out’ but it was hard to hear as some one was shouting my name and I was sucked into blackness.

Alyssa fell back and Pablo caught her. Vanessa shouted her name again, but to no prevail. Donna kneeled next to the unconscious girl and glared at her. “Lay her down,” she ordered in a serious tone as her eyes reflected knowledge. “Wha-” “Just do it!” she interrupted angrily. Pablo set Alyssa’s limp body onto the floor gently. As soon as he moved away her eyes shot open, but not to the usual happy and sparkling green hue, but a lonely, angry gray-silver. She glanced around at the other unmoving then spoke. “Get out of here,” a deep and masculine voice ordered with anger etched across Alyssa’s face. “Give the girl back,” Donna replied in a demanding tone followed by a dark glare. “Why are you trespassing on my property?” he countered. Donna raised an eyebrow and looked over toward Pablo and Vanessa. “Why did you kids come here?” she asked curiously. “Alyssa wanted to come,” Pablo answered calmly. “Now give her back!” Vanessa shouted with clear worry. A smirk played across Alyssa’s lips then the ghost within her started to laugh until her body, again, went limp and fell to the floor. Pablo was about to reach for her but Donna stopped him. “We need to help her!” Pablo shouted, loosing the calmness that he used to have and replacing it with worry of her own. “Right now only she can fight the spirit,” Donna replied calmly, staring toward Alyssa.
~Alyssa’s Point of View~
I was floating around this endless black for a while, really. It was quite calming, carefree. There seemed to be no worry about anything. Not even the ghost... THE GHOST! As this thought struck me I quickly came to what I was supposed to do. I just didn’t know how to get to my friends. “Hey!” I shouted to nothing as I stood. “Hey! Someone answer me!” I demanded and, as soon as I had finished, a figure formed in front of me. It was definitely a man. He was quite on the old fashioned side and seemed close to his forties. He glared at me with such hate, like I killed someone related to him or something. “What did I do?” I asked. “You came here,” he replied roughly. “Okay. Why are you here?” I asked. Ah, how I love to annoy people with questions. This also got the dude to give me quite a quizzical look. “So... Are you going to answer me or not?” I pressed. “I always lived here,” he simply said. “Okay. But why are you here?” I basically repeated. He made a face debating on whether or not to tell me. “Well... You can trust me. It’s my job to help ghosts,” I stated. Wow! I have a job! With no PAY?! “I-I...” He stopped and shook his head. “I’m not going to tell you!” I was quite taken aback by what he said but I tried not to show that. (I highly doubted I succeeded in that though.) I replaced my gaze with a serious one and asked in a more demanding tone, “Why are you here?” He raised his eyebrows, probably noticing that I am not going to give up without a fight. He turned around and started to glare at me and I, in return, glared back. Now there was an intense staring contest happening between the two of us. (Don’t you see the sparks in the center?) Soon he broke away from my deadly gaze. (YES!) “I... I’m... I’m afraid,” he finally gave in as I tried not to smile in triumph. (No matter how good it would’ve felt.) “Afraid...?” I tilted me head. “Why?” “I’ve killed too many. I don’t want to be sent to Hell,” he said slowly in a sad tone. “How... Why did you kill?” I was afraid to hear the answer to that. “I get angry.” I coughed slightly. Get angry? That’s new to me. Talk about an extreme temper tantrum. “Are... You... Laughing at me?” he asked slowly as he started to glare at me. “No,” I replied. I couldn’t tell if I was completely telling the truth or not. He glared at me and shot forward, grabbing my throat. I was being choked... AGAIN!!! (I tend to state the obvious.) This dude was definitely telling the truth when he said he gets angry. I quickly started to pry his hands off my neck as I kicked forward. The kick worked better. Which is why I did a full circle and kicked at him again. Now I wanted him out! He seemed practically defenseless right now. I slowed to a stop glaring at him. “Are you calm?” I asked in a rough voice. He silently looked down. “Well?” I pressed, lowering my defense. Bad idea. He quickly glared up at me with such a hate that gave me quite a shock when he started to fight back. He seemed to be pummeling me and it definitely hurt. I pushed him back a bit to gain some sort of advantage and aimed a kick to the side. He caught it, I twisted around and kicked again, connecting it to his stomach. I quickly ran back then turned to face him. “Get out!” I shouted as I shot toward him and tackled him to the ground. As I quickly tried to gain back some ground and watched as he faded away, eventually fully disappearing. I closed then opened my eyes to be back in the room again as my two friends said my name and Donna just gave me this look like she never expected me to come through. “Alyssa,” Donna started, “How did it go?” I turned to my friends instead and said, “I spoke to him. I don’t think he’ll want to cross over in the near future.” “Why?” Vanessa asked. “He’s scared that he might be sent to Hell. He has quite a temper. And I don’t know where he is now but he might be pissed,” I explained. “Typical...” I heard Donna mutter. I gave her a questioning look. “Join hands,” she ordered. The three of us looked at each other then her. “Do it,” she growled threateningly. Vanessa grabbed my hand, Pablo grabbed Vanessa’s and Donna clutched our hands with a soft grip and started to speak. By the fact that she started with ‘Dear Lord’ I knew she was praying. Eventually it ended and I heard something behind me as Vanessa and Pablo started at whatever it was. I turned and saw the ghost again, except everyone saw him. He was smiling toward Donna as a bright light suddenly engulfed him. Donna sighed and stared at me. “What?” I was starting to get annoyed. “I thought you were just a thrill-seeking teenager, but now I know you’re much more than that,” Donna said softly. “What’s that supposed to mean?” Pablo asked for me. Donna shook her head. “You’ll see soon enough. There’s still more you’ve got to learn before you reached your full potential.” She stood up and started to walk away. “Wait! What do you mean?” I asked again. Donna shook her head again and continued walking, eventually disappearing around a corner. I still want to know what she meant but I guess that’s for another adventure.
