Running, Turning, Stopping

Running, Turning, Stopping

A Poem by Kurt Gargis
"

A set of three poems I wrote about 6 years ago....Yeah, I like doing sets. I dunno why...Keep in mind it was written when I was 13, and I haven't changed it since. I feel like I should not improve it, as it just wouldn't be the same, but still let me know

"

Running,running,never stopping...
My muscles feel the strain.
I can hear my joints popping.
But still I run through the rain.

Looking over my shoulder,
Seeing if the chase is less.
Scraping my elbow on a boulder,
I'm running still nonetheless.

Parting bushes as I run,
Wishing for a rest.
Deeply regretting what I have done,
But still running my best.

My mind's in a knot.
I'm running high and low,
Trying to escape what I cannot
My sin,my shadow.

Still always running,
Trying to keep my pacing.
The path always turning,
My shadow alway chasing.

I think it is safe to rest.
Turning at a sound,
I find nothing to address.
Turning, I make my legs pound.

I'm still running.
I'm turning on a new path.
Using all my cunning
Afraid to face its wrath.

I'm having doubts now.
My mind's still a knot.
But still I plow,
And my sanity begins to rot.

My stamina is stopping.
My fear starts to grow.
But I'm still clopping.
My shadow's still in tow.

The sin is what I'm shunning
And the fear that comes.
But despite my cunning,
It yet still comes.

But yet I learn,
Although it's what I fear,
It's what I yearn
To make it dissapear.

My heart does a hop.
But yet I know.
It's time to stop
And face my shadow.
