Nest

Nest

A Poem by Kuo Yisheng

My heart is broken so there is room

A spider will be in me soon

Sleeping on my back

Dangling thread over my open mouth

The spider drops in, never to come out

Crawling down into my throat

The deeper it goes, the more its ego bloats

Holding my heart together with its web

My internal dream catcher

It cradles me with its hairy legs

And after making the trip up to my ear drum

And whispering sweet affirmations into my ear

It sees how I soak up its affection,

And relishes in it

It’s quivering fangs glint in the moonlight

Unblinking eyes rolling in pleasure

The time has come, the web is spun

Now for my sewn heart to come undone

Lured me in with reparations

Took advantage of my temptation

I awaken and rush to the bathroom

Hand clasped over my mouth,

i look in the mirror and see a few specks moving along my cheek

I shouldn’t have turned the light on

Spiders, seeping from my ears, like specks of darkness leaving my body

My hand detaches from my mouth,

Shaking with fear

They bubble up in my throat

I feel them crawling against my throat

And so

I cough up the wave of spiders, splashing in the sink and spilling out onto the floor

I cannot stop myself

I gag and I choke until each and every little b*****d is out of me

Except for one

The damage is done, my heart is tattered

I was fooled by the Spider, and it flattered

Me until I let it in

But the corpse of the mother shall lay within

Because I am a means to an end

My heart is broken so there is room

A spider will be in me soon
