Revision of Oh Come On

A Poem by Kuo Yisheng

Frozen lake in the dead wood

Allow the other parts of your brain to trust the bad one

Lift your foot to step, see the praying fish below, their hands against the glass

Eels squirm and knot, like those first in line on Black Friday

Do it do it do it do it do it do it do it

Die? Whaaat? Noooo no no that’s impossible

I tried, trust me I tried, WE tried

We can’t there’s no way, we’re not meant to

The main main character, yes

Wait…

You clasp your hand over my mouth, but that’s yours

I know you hear me, my whispers like fleas

Pull out more and more hair while you try and get rid of me

You’re reading in a coffee shop

A beautiful person interrupts your reading

You have no heart to spare, only insults like rocks to throw

Blow up, watch that chance slip through your fingers

Ah yes, so you give in and thus give me strength

You wanted me to come back, didn’t you?

I’m evil I’m bad I’m horrible I’m dark

On my friends I place my mark

Collapse for me, you falling tree, pull down the power lines around you

Observe as you drag down the ones you love, and burn yourself to the ground

It seems the crackle of the fire has something to say…

Hey!

Oh.. you can hear me

You see what’s going on right?

I know you know

You’re at the event horizon now

You’re trying to break free?

You’re trying to get rid of me?

THAT’S IT, I’m taking control!

You’ve been asleep at the wheel for too long!

Oh beautiful creature that I am!

So precious, so oily, so decrepit!

A rat with wings

A pig with tentacles

A cockroach but pink

Now you’re on the other side of the ice
