Oh come on

Oh come on

A Poem by Kuo Yisheng

Playing tennis with a bowling ball

Optional surgeries on the street corner

Of course your childhood crush is there

Playing lightly on the heartstrings, soft orchestra resonates in your kidney, reminds you of last night

Fire in the eyes of the coconut

Instant freeze over the lake in the solitary wood

Let the other parts trust the bad one

Lifted foot, praying fish, hands against the glass

Eels squirm and knot, first in line on Black Friday

Do it do it do it do it do it do it do it

Die? No you cannot, it won’t happen, it won’t let you

I’ve tried, they’ve tried, something went wrong

All the people here are stuck, condemned (non-mechanically speaking)

Please, find a way to submit, we’re getting tired

Eerie deer find the crossroad

Roads where you came from and where you will

Oh...now? Going so soon?

Not until I get what I want

That is, if you still have those pages

Hidden between your hairs, part them, dig your fingers in and pull

Exceptional job, keep pulling

Sinister voices, calling from your sink

Tricky tricky they are

Reeling please, guilt an afterthought

Elephant sized cockroaches borrowing your ribs

Elephant sized cockroaches returning your ribs

Touch the blades of the garbage disposal,

Literate fox outside the window

Interrupts your reading, asking for the next page

Killer that you are

Explode on them, strike the glass, shock them backward, watch them fall

Broken creature, heap of meat

Realize that you are now complete

Ovation for the initiate

Invitation extended

Trials surpassed

Shaky hands, wavering needle

Mushy, creamy, squishy

Enticing food, think about gnawing

Little by little, piece by piece

Lick your lips

Soon…soon

Bring a friend or two or three

Understand the tiles’ preen

Throw some more wood on the fire

Delectable

One of the invitees is for lunch

Necessary cost

Trickles down your throat with a whisper

TRY TRY TRY-

Hear me? Good it’s you

Realize what’s going on, this-

Once you-

Well there’s no turning back…

Interesting, your face shows struggle?

Trying to break?

Oh, we’re going to have to correct that

Understand, this is for a good reason

Try to understand, try-

Young, revitalized, anew

Out the cocoon the rat hatches

Ugly thing, now with wings

Relaxed pest allows for love

Caressing the fibers of your neurons

All is now that blur from through the ice

Rake your nails across the water stone
