Magnolia

Magnolia

A Poem by Kaya5

Take me to where the raindrops are pink
Where shadows collide.
And rainbows are static

Keep me safe from the whispers at night,
the mumbles in the skies
And figures hidden in plain sight.

Make me a promise as strong as an ox
As hard as a rock,
And can't be broken like a brick.

Tell me a rumour about the priest.
The mistress he keeps
And the music she sings

Send me a letter written in gold.
Embellished with bows.
And smelling like rose.

well of course the priest has a mistress, just as sure as the sun rises in the east

The stanza about the priest and his mistress jumps out suddenly, seemingly a departure from the preceding verses. Possibly not, though. The poem comes across as a plea for reassurance in the midst of an uncertain world. It makes me think the speaker is one who has recently experienced some kind of a reverse.
