A Stranger I've BecomeA Poem by ksscamposmeet yourselfA Stranger I’ve
Become That night alone
secluded in your quarters For no apparent
reason you turn on the stereo A familiar sound
finally settles in as you adjust the switches A vibration of a long
lost passion floods With the sound of a string on a guitar Slowly you remember
things you long forgot Events, people, pain,
joy The melody slowly
reencounters your emotions Lyrics flows
naturally from your tongue You realize you are
not alone anymore Someone sits by your
side A familiar face As the music plays,
you both sit back in deep thought Not saying much but
enjoying the pleasant company The chorus comes on Both synchronized voices follow along How is this random
individual suddenly appears And with no hesitation
joins your reminiscence from a time long ago As if he knew you
better than you know yourself Laughters bounce back
and forth It feels good to
reunite with this familiar stranger As the music wraps
up, you realize how much that song meant One song, with simple
chords and a reggae beat Puts you in intense
ease. The stranger next to
you fades away As you wish for him
to stay It suddenly hits That one song, those
lyrics, that beat, that tune Has reunited yourself
with the person you long were You remember how
wonderful it all felt back then Now you changed and
don’t really know when You miss that feeling
of connecting to yourself with a simple song Learning about
yourself through the words of others Depicting lyrics as
if they were a mystery Don’t lose yourself
to time. We all change, it is
inevitable Keep the parts of you
that make you happy Do not let anyone
take your personal happiness from you © 2015 ksscampos |
